Content validation ensured accurate, complete, and consistent product data by eliminating human errors, missing fields, and duplicates. This improved operational efficiency, enhanced team confidence, and rebuilt trust in Walmart’s internal systems—ultimately contributing to better customer experience and increased sales.
When I joined the project, WALL*E felt like an old machine—critical, but forgotten.
Category Leads were stuck in a system with no visibility, no tracking, and no clear rules.
They relied on gut feeling, not data. The UI was cluttered, the workflow confusing, and mistakes were common.
I realised this wasn’t just a design flaw—it was costing trust, time, and revenue.
This wasn’t about fixing screens. It was about giving people clarity, control, and the confidence that their work mattered.
WALL•E supports a diverse set of internal Walmart teams, all working to ensure that every product on Walmart.com meets the highest content quality standards:

My focus:
I was specifically assigned to redesign the experience for the Category Lead, who needed better visibility, control, and efficiency to manage workloads and track progress.

No Clear Validation Criteria
Lack of clearly defined success/failure indicators made it difficult to understand if a product’s content passed validation.

Inefficient Workflow Navigation
The interface was cluttered, with no logical flow between tasks—users often got lost or had to retrace steps.

Missing Visual Hierarchy
All product content looked the same—no prioritization of errors, warnings, or missing data. Everything had the same visual weight.

No Progress Tracking or Audit Trail
Users couldn’t easily track which SKUs had been validated, who validated them, or what changes were made—resulting in confusion and duplicate work.

Outdated UI
The design was not only visually outdated but lacked basic UX practices, leading to a steep learning curve for new team members.

Limited Filtering and Sorting
Users couldn’t filter or search effectively, making it hard to prioritize or batch SKUs based on urgency, category, or team.

Lack of Error Prevention Mechanisms
There were no safeguards or real-time validation prompts, so mistakes often slipped through unnoticed.

Human errors due to long scrolls
Long horizontal scroll lading to inconsistent data transfer and unwanted human errors.
Reviewing current screens to identify usability gaps and design flaws.

Images have been intentionally blurred to respect confidentiality agreements and internal data sensitivity. Please reach out directly if you’d like to view the full heuristic evaluation.
Critical
High Probability + High Impact
Saved or not? No clue: Users weren’t sure if their changes went through.
Too much scrolling, too many mistakes: Horizontal scroll increased chances of human error.
Major
Medium Probability + High Impact
No feedback, just guesswork: Users had no idea if actions like filter, upload, or download were working.
No priority cues: Leads had no way to see which items needed urgent allocation.
Workaround
High Probability or Medium Impact
Saved or not? No clue: Users weren’t sure if their changes went through.
Too much scrolling, too many mistakes: Horizontal scroll increased chances of human error.
Irritant
Medium Probability + Low Impact
No feedback, just guesswork: Users had no idea if actions like filter, upload, or download were working.
No priority cues: Leads had no way to see which items needed urgent allocation.
We created personas for the Walmart leads to aid UX design by gaining insights into humanising users, guiding decisions, and framing solution for the users.

How Might We…
…empower category leads and analysts to seamlessly allocate, track, and close validation tasks—without switching tabs, guessing workloads, or chasing data?
Can we replace chaos with clarity, manual effort with visibility, and fragmented modules with a unified, intuitive experience?
We performed research analysis on the data collected.

Proposing a User journey for the lead based on the analysis
Impact it made- metrics
40% Faster
Reduced time to complete a content validation task from 10 seconds to 6 seconds
Higher User Satisfaction
Lower Error Rate
Improved Information Grouping
Better visual organization helped users locate relevant data faster
Clear Priority Visibility
Added tags and filters (P1, P2, P3) to help users triage high-priority items instantly
Interface design is a pivotal step in visualising and structuring the user experience, guiding the development process with clarity and precision.
